Aesthetic Group Gymnastics

A sport that transforms lives, connects communities, achieves excellence and inspires award-winning performances.

More Than A Sport

Aesthetic Group Gymnastics is art, expression and emotion combined into a high-level competitive sport.

AGG is a discipline of gymnastics based, on stylised body movement. The sport itself involves harmonious, rhythmic and dynamic movements, performed with a natural use of strength. There must be a seamless flow from one movement to the next, as if each new movement was created from the last, with a variety for passages and speed.

AGG is a relatively new gymnastic discipline, having grown and developed over the past decade. It now is participated in by more than 45 nations worldwide, and is on course to become part of the Olympic family in years to come.

Composition & Teamwork

Each performance composition must contain versatile and varied body movements, such as body waves and swings, balances and pivots, jumps and leaps, dance steps, and lifts. Physical qualities such as flexibility, speed, strength, coordination, and ability to move effortlessly are important.

A competitive group consists of 6 to 10 gymnasts, with teamwork and unity essential cornerstones of the performance. Choreography using expressive interpretive music helps to create a story.
